As the year draws to a close we've asked Trushar Panchal "Global Head of Solutions Design and Delivery" to give us a taste of what's in store for Matrix in 2012.

Trushar, what has been the highlight for Matrix in 2011?

As Matrix has matured and the steady roll out to clients has continued, my team has worked closely with several medium and large clients to integrate Matrix Messaging with other key enterprise systems so that the benefits of the software extends across larger teams and departments. A single message received in Matrix can be the trigger for numerous processes such as invoicing or accounting, and by integrating Messaging with the existing finance systems we speed up their business processes.

We delivered such a solution for one of our biggest clients earlier this year, ensuring seamless integration with their SAP system. This to me shows a real strength in Matrix

Tell us your vision of what Matrix users can expect in 2012?

The major developments at the start of next year will be around the Matrix Shipping modules. We've always offered a well functioning Shipping module - but I know from speaking to clients that as business processes change and competition intensifies within the industry there is a lot of potential to make the software work smarter for the user to help them improve speed of operations whilst at the same time keeping the software flexible enough that users don't lose efficiencies. We are working on a consultative basis with a number of clients with innovative ideas right now to ensure we cater to the industry's evolving needs.

What else is on the way next year?

My team is looking at ways we can really add value to clients by helping them manage more and more of their business processes and day to day workflow through Matrix. On a simple but effective level this can be through integrating with the other software that they use - so that users don't waste time capturing the same data in numerous applications. Also, we want to enhance the smartphone and tablet applications for Matrix - so that our users really can get the data they need on the go.

But more than this, we have ideas to takes Matrix to the next level as a 'Business intelligence' tool - by giving users a lot more functionality to add their own rules for how Matrix handles their data so the system itself pro-actively and intelligently manipulates the data - giving users valuable information from the vast quantity of data the system holds, to make informed decisions - and keep the broker competitive. Enhancing Matrix as a business intelligence tool will be a very exciting offering for SDSD next year.

Will your team continue its rapid growth in 2012?

We quadrupled the team in Eastern Europe in 2011 and we'll certainly continue to grow next year, as we have several integration projects already in the pipeline.

Trushar Panchal has worked for SDSD since 2010. He has a solid commercial and technical background gained over many years in IT and management consultancy, with specialities in enterprise architecture, solutions architecture and business process analysis.

Increase in Legacy License Fee rate effective February 2012

We will be bringing our legacy license fee percentage rate in line with our current rates from February 2012. This increase will affect a small proportion of our user base on 9%, 13.25% and 15% respectively

All affected clients will be contacted by their account manager to further explain the changes.

Singapore Ship Sale Form

Singapore Ship Sales Form (SSF), our latest addition to the pool of available charter party documents is now available. Following a co-operation agreement between Asian Shipowners Forums and SDSD, the SSF will be exclusively distributed by our Charter Party Editor software.

SSF provides an alternative for other sale forms and addresses the demand of the Singapore and Asian maritime community for a sale form which prioritizes regional requirements.

Singapore Ship Sale Form (SSF2011) is now available for our existing clients at our webshop.
